For the first time, Vivid Roots Collective are delivering residency projects across the Highlands in 2026. The project will support an artist in each of our partner venue’s localities to develop their practice or a creative idea, and share this with their audiences.They will also be supported to deliver a sharing of their practice or idea at one of the Vivid Roots Collective’s scratch nights.
Each residency will be for 5 days in one of our partner venues, and will be supported by an industry mentor, who will be selected based on the nature of the resident artist’s practice.

Lyth Arts Centre, Caithness
We are currently recruiting an artist to develop an idea or an aspect of their creative practice over a week-long residency at Lyth Arts Centre.
Residency dates: Monday 7th November to Friday 11th November

Application Deadline: Monday 31st August 9am
Artist Fee: £1,350 (2 weeks at £600, plus holiday pay)
Development Budget: £750 (materials and resources to support the residency)
Macphail Centre, Ullapool
Angela Stone is a freelance Director/Producer. After 20 years in arts management and cultural leadership in Yorkshire, she has relocated to the Scottish Highlands and wishes to establish her practice here.
Angela is working on a new verbatim performance about the Klondykers in Ullapool in the 80’s. During her residency, she collected stories and collated a short audio clip which painted a picture of what it was like at the time.
Eden Court Theatre, Inverness
Elliot Scott is a playwright based in the Highlands. His work considers the importance of home in shaping each of our lives. In January his short play Stop, Look, Listen was performed at A Play, A Pie and a Pint, as part of Scottish Youth Theatre’s Trajectories New Writers programme.
Elliot developed a first draft of his new play, Wandering Days, during the Eden Court Residency. He presented a reading of the play at the residency sharing and the June Scratch Night.
